Self Portrait!

Hello...today I have something a little different to share with you all and something that is totally out of my comfort zone.....my dear friend Carly, whose blog I follow closely, has been taking the most amazing photographs and this is something that I have always love to do and would like to do more, but with only my little point and shoot I am finding that this year will be the year that I will update to a DSLR to be able to venture further with photography, but for the time being, I am loving my little point and shoot and still have much to learn about it.

So Carly, has posted two challenges on her blog, which you can view HERE....I have decided to tackle the first challenge which sounds fabulous, that being a photo a week, she has urged us to all play along...I figured I could handle photographing one photo a week as oppose to a photo a day. What I find the greatest thing about this challenge, is that not only do I challenge myself to photograph, but also I don't need to have a fancy camera to participate.

This for me is a great way to document each week of the year, there is no pressure..which is what I like also. So from now on you will find that one day of the week, I will be sharing the current challenge of that week here on my blog.

So this week, Carly, challenged us to take the most hardest photo of all, Ourselves, as like most people I am always behind the camera, I totally dislike photos of myself and really find it uncomfortable to be in front of the lens...but I challenged myself and after about 1000 photos taken..LOL I managed to get a few that I liked...this one below is the one that I am entering into this weeks challenge...

Here is a collage of the other photos that I did not mind at all..I say this with a slight grimace..LOL...

Be sure to check out Carly's blog and the details of the Two Challenges...this is going to be fun and something that I think will grow me as a better person and hopefully a better point and shoot photographer..LOL...

Okay, time for me to head off and catch up on commenting and a few jobs around here...

Have a wonderful day!

Hugs

You have done such a cool job Joy. I think choosing a black and white look is great as well. It really gives an elegance to the photos. Like this idea

You have some very nice pictures. I hate to have my picture taken.
Great job. A bit of creativity does seem to mean 'moving outside our comfort zone'

You're beautiful Joy, inside and out. :-) I envy your courage in taking these - I'm definitely a hide behind the camera girl!

Joy, you're adorable! Love the black and white. I know how you feel I feel the same way. I'd rather take the pictures than have my picture taken as well.

Wow! These photos are so clear and vibrant! Thanks for the inspiration. I'll have to give it a try with my little point and shoot as soon as I wash my hair(lol).

You already are a great person and now I can see you take great pictures too. I hate being photographed by anyone so I'm not sure I could do this.

What a difficult challenge, but you have rallied to it. I love the photos but would also like one with a huge smile like you give to us here on your inspiring blog!

Good for you for your willingness to step outside your comfort zone! It's never easy, but the value of doing it is great. I really like black and white photography, and I think you did a terrific job with these – I'm looking forward to the next chapter in the series!

I'm not sure why you don't like photos of yourself. These are great pictures of a lovely lady, who is ALSO very talented. Nice to see the face behind the work. Love your haircut too. TFS

Your photos turned out wonderful! Don't let your point and shoot hold you back. You are making the pictures, not your camera, and you made some great pictures!

Wonderful pictures Joy! Pictures of yourself are always the hardest, I avoid being in any photos but have just started to realise that I do have to make an effort.

Joy these are great selfportrait photos. I love that you did them in B/W. I have a Point and Shoot myself and have really been enjoying taking photo's with it.
